Invasive Plant Project

Stinknet, sometimes called Globe Chamomile, is a highly invasive weed, originally from South Africa, that grows fast, spreads fast, and, when it dies, becomes dangerous kindling for wildfires. It is so invasive, as well, that it has been outcompeting native plants on our trail!

Last year, we began the long task of trying to remove invasive plant species (i.e., stinknet/globe chamomile) from the trail. We had incredible volunteers who came out to help us weed, and we have also started creating seed balls to spread wildflowers across the trail and have even begun planting native trees and cacti along the trail!
