Discover the past through the PAST Academy!
January 31st | February 28th | March 28th | April 25th 9 a.m. - 12 p.m
Admission: $100
Discover what archaeology looks like today through hands-on activities, real tools, and behind-the-scenes experiences at the Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve. Designed for teens (grades 9th-12th), this four-session program explores the modern science of studying the past while emphasizing the cultural respect and responsibility that guide all archaeological work.
Each session highlights a different career path within anthropology—such as fieldwork, collections and archives, site stewardship, and museum education. Students will explore how archaeologists use technology, documentation, and ethical decision-making to understand and protect cultural sites, and they’ll take part in interactive activities that model real-world archaeological work.
By the end of the program, students will have a well-rounded understanding of how archaeologists study, protect, and share the past, along with practical skills they can carry into future studies in anthropology, museum work, or related fields.
