Field trips and teacher resources

Field trips

Updated January 2024:
All museum public school and homeschool group tours remain suspended until further notice.

We are only offering self-guided experiences at the moment. If you are interested in bringing a group to the Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve for a self-guided tour, please email dvpp@asu.edu for more information.

The field trips are scheduled for 1 hour and 45 minutes and include an interactive tour of the museum, nature preserve, petroglyphs, mesquite bean grinding with manos and metates, and a take-home activity.

Our knowledgeable educators will introduce your students to the following subjects:

  • Archaeology
  • Native Cultures of Arizona
  • Rock Art
  • Desert Ecology

Home school groups

Home school programs are available for home-school organizations of 10 or more throughout the year. The home school programs include a guided tour of the museum, nature trail and petroglyphs, and a take-home craft activity.
